Think about what it is you want your tattoo to do.  Are you looking to commemorate an event?  A death? A celebration? A person?  Or is this just a tattoo for fun?  (Yes, it’s okay to get a tattoo just because you want to!)

What images come to mind?  Would a yellow rose with a name in the petals be the perfect memorial to a friend who died in a car crash?  Maybe you just want their initials – but what type of lettering?

Zodiac symbol tattoos

If you think astrology is a fringe science, think again. It’s actually one of the original sciences and was once nearly inseparable from astronomy. Our ancestors gazed at the cosmos and saw order in the infinite chaos, leading to the discovery of the constellations. And as you may already know, the constellations are the basis for the signs of the zodiac.

Interest in astrology is definitely on the upswing, and tattoo enthusiasts who feel a natural affinity for their personal zodiac sign haven’t failed to see the artistic merit in each design. Naturally, this has led to the creation of a lot of great tattoos.

Getting a tattoo is serious business.

Don’t let anyone tell you it’s not. So it’s critical that you choose something that represents who you are.

Your tattoo is a reflection your inner world. Your mind, your thoughts and beliefs. That’s why tattoos have been used for centuries to convey various identities.

One way to choose a design is to ask yourself, if you could pick only one symbol (or idea) to represent yourself, what would it be?

I rate http://www.tattoosunlimited.com 4 stars out of 5.  This is an excellent resource to guide you in the right direction when getting your first tattoo.

Flower butterfly tattoos

flower butterfly tattoos

A lot of women admire tattoos, but they would never consider getting one themselves. Why is that? Is it because they’re afraid of going under the needle? Yes, sometimes fear of the possible pain is a big factor, as well as the fear of contracting HIV or hepatitis C from improperly sterilized equipment.

Then there’s that old chestnut called “social stigma”. As tattoos explode in popularity, they are becoming more accepted in society. However, there was a time when body ink was strictly the domain of less than savory characters. Today, tats are moving far beyond any particular culture or social status. You’ll encounter people with body art across nearly all walks of life.

Perhaps the biggest reason that many women admire tattoos yet don’t take the plunge and get one themselves is that they haven’t found a design they’re sure they’ll be comfortable with. This is where flower butterfly tats come in.

Unlike many tattoos, flower butterfly combinations don’t have much to say. Yes, butterflies are considered symbolic of rebirth, and certain flowers have meanings, but generally speaking, these designs are fairly innocuous. They can be exactly what they appear to be- beautiful works of art. As such, they are usually well accepted by society-at-large, especially in the work place.

Are you tired of scanning through 100s of Tattoo websites with poor quality pictures and trying to find the perfect tattoo for yourself only to find that you’re still lost and undecided?

What’s worse is being so excited about getting a tattoo that you flick through the parlor’s binder of designs and get inked without putting more thought into it. Worse still, is disliking your tattoo and having to pay a fortune to have it laser removed!

http://www.tattoofever.net/  gets 4 out of 5 stars from me.  It is another fantastic source where you can spend hours combing through there awesome designs tossing up which design you should go for.  And you may be there a while because this site has over 10,000 designs to choose from!

Armband tattoo tribal

armband tattoo tribal

Tribal armband tattoos usually don’t represent any particular culture.  The designs consist of bold, solid-colored patterns, with arcing lines that have an organic feel.  Based in spirit on ancient tattooing traditions from around the world, tribal-style designs often have no specific meaning of their own.

Like Celtic designs, tribal shapes make good armbands because the design can be continuous, looking just as good from the side as from the front.  Tribal tats have become very common, leading some enthusiasts to seek other styles.

Don’t you agree that…

Deciding on what kind of tattoo to get can be extremely difficult.
High quality tattoo designs are very few and hard to find online.

Celtic design tattoos

celtic design tattoos

There are several different types of symbols that are typical in Celtic culture. One of the most important is the Celtic knot, a design made of interwoven lines and designs that are representative of stories or a specific part of Celtic culture. Celtic knots and bands can be seen on many different tapestries and artwork from early on in the Middle Ages (and even before), and some early tattoos seen on the Celts and the Picts were created from these knots. Archeologists have found that there are eight elementary knots that create the rest of the patterns found in Celtic knotwork. Some of these knots are formed into a straight line, creating a band, while others adorn mystical shapes like the triangle and circle. Besides the obvious religious connotations of these shapes, there is not believed to be any mystical or religious meaning to just the Celtic knots themselves.

Another common symbol is the Celtic cross. This cross, which is formed like a lowercase “t” with a circle around the arms, predates the beginning of Christianity in the United Kingdom, although it was eventually co-opted by Christians who wanted to use the symbol to represent Christ. This cross is also a popular choice for tattoos.
